  • NFU President Tom Bradshaw and NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos are meeting with the Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper MP to discuss rural crime.

  • NFU Deputy President David Exwood will be hosting the NFU's bi-annual banking roundtable with banking agri-leaders.

Westminster – Tues 14 May

  • NFU President Tom Bradshaw and NFU Director General Terry Jones will be attending the second Farm to Fork Summit at 10 Downing Street. Hosted by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The annual Farm to Fork Summit was a key ask from the NFU general election manifesto – Farming for Britain's Future – and marks a significant step in the NFU's campaign for recognition of the strategic importance of British food and farming.

  • NFU chief renewable energy and climate change adviser Jonathan Scurlock is speaking to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Community Energy chaired by Selaine Saxby MP at Portcullis House, Westminster.
  • NFU flooding adviser Zoe Moore will be attending a meeting with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Flood Prevention. 

NFU events – Wed 15 May

  • NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos is attending a roundtable at the Pig and Poultry show with Janet Hughes, Programme Director for the Future Farming and Countryside Programme, NFU Poultry Board chair James Mottershead and grassroots members to talk about SFI in the poultry sector. 
  • Hear from NFU specialists at the British Pig and Poultry show in Birmingham. The NFU stand will be running from 9am to 3pm in Hall 12.

  • NFU food business relationship adviser Annabel Bagshaw is in Brussels to discuss welfare labelling and other topics with the European Commission.

  • NFU Vice President Rachel Hallos is attending a Water Sector Summit in the House of Lords.

  • NFU chief sustainable supply chains adviser Alex Stevens is meeting with the Institute of Grocery Distribution to discuss supply chain efficiency.

  • NFU Dairy Board advisers and chairs are meeting with the advisors and chairs from NFU Cymru, NFU Scotland and Ulster Farmers’ Union to discuss their priorities for the next 2 years.

British Agriculture Bureau – Wed 8 May

  • Director of the British Agriculture Bureau Robin Manning is joining an EU-UK relations meeting with Zoe Compston, Counsellor for Goods, Health & Environment at the UK Mission to the EU.

  • NFU chief renewable energy & climate change adviser Jonathan Scurlock is speaking and chairing a panel session at the Farmers Weekly Transition Live event near Cambridge, on “Making renewable energy work on your farm."

  • Agricultural attachés are being hosted for an event in the Westminster office, this has been organised to try and deliver more export opportunities for our members.

  • Westminster Hall debate on pylons and upgrades to the National Grid has been secured by Matt Warman MP (Cons, Boston and Skegness).

British Agricultural Bureau – Mon 22 April

  • NFU Next Generation Forum member Eveey Hunter will be in Brussels to meet with CEJA (European Council of Young Farmers) to discuss future European farmer support and policies.

  • NFU chief livestock adviser John Royle will be in Brussels for meetings with European colleagues about the deforestation regulation and for the Copa Cogeca working party on sheep and goats.

British Agricultural Bureau – Wed 24 April

  • The NFU trade team will be in Brussels to meet with European stakeholders including DG AGRI, CropLife International, and AnimalHealth Europe. 

Westminster – Wed 24 April

  • NFU President Tom Bradshaw is giving oral evidence to the House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee as part of the inquiry into methane emissions.

  • NFU chief sustainable supply chains adviser Alex Stevens is on farm with Promar in Wales for a net zero strategy workshop with food supply chain stakeholders.

  • European Dairy Association Conference. This is titled ‘European Dairy and Next Generation EU 2024 – 2019’ and brings together European representatives of the dairy sector and EU officials.

  • BAB team regular catch-up with the UK Government agriculture team in Brussels. This is with UK Mission to the UK, Scotland House, Welsh House and the Northern Ireland Executive.
  • Copa Cogeca working party on fruit and vegetables.

  • The NFU has organised two separate meetings between The Rural Payments Agency, MPs and local farmers.
