Kevin Attwood is standing for the position of NFU Deputy President and NFU Vice President.
I come from a family farming partnership started in 1974 on 100ha with beef and arable. As the business expanded it has produced sheep, fruit and field scale vegetables but is now focussed on combinable crops on 4000ha in various tenures.
My experience with the NFU started as Swale Branch Chairman, followed by Kent Chairman, currently County Delegate and SE Regional Board Chairman.
Over the next two years we face key challenges.
As an industry:
- CAP reform
- bTB
- Grocery Code adjudicator
- Employment issues including AWB/SAWS.
As an organisation:
- Implementing a review to benefit members
- Bolstering our partnership with the NFUM
- Strengthening political lobbying
I believe the NFU needs to elect new Deputy and Vice Presidents to support the President in delivering on these issues, but also to offer choice for the future and I would relish the opportunity to fill one of those posts.
