Meurig Raymond is standing for the position of NFU Deputy President.
It has been a privilege and honour to serve as Deputy President and support Peter Kendall at a time when agriculture and horticulture has been recognised as an important industry by government and society.
The NFU has also increased its full farming membership over this period.
CAP reform post-2014 will be the top priority over the next two years and my involvement in developing good working relationships with members of the European Parliament over recent years will be important in influencing final decisions.
Implementation of the bovine TB strategy will be equally important. With my knowledge and experience of running a mixed farming business, I am well-placed to represent all sectors of the industry.
With the next generation involved in our farming business I will passionately argue the importance of agriculture and horticulture, and the need for a vibrant, profitable industry that can show a good return on its capital.
