Morrisons
At Morrisons we believe being closer to source is something which makes us different from other supermarkets. We are committed to British farmers and lead the way in selling only 100% British fresh beef, lamb and pork to our customers. We buy direct from farmers and take the livestock to our own abattoirs. From there the meat is supplied to our stores ready for our trained ‘in-store’ butchers to cut and prepare. Fresh produce will in most cases be taken directly from the field to our own facilities, where we wash, grade and pack it ourselves.
In what was seen as a natural next step, and one that sees us uniquely placed to understand the challenges facing British farmers, Morrisons are now farming a 1000 acre beef and sheep enterprise in Ayrshire, Scotland. The farm is part of our ongoing Morrisons Farming Programme, a long term initiative with a strong research focus where we invest funds in a broad range of activities that can help develop a sustainable British farming industry.
