We’re echoing warnings for farmers to check the height of their machinery when working around overhead lines.
Power company Scottish and Southern Energy has launched a free sticker to be placed in combine cabs this harvest. It reminds operators to think ahead and gives the 0800 300 999 emergency number to report potentially dangerous situations.
Sticker designer Norman MacIver said: “What many people forget is that electricity can jump through the air, so it’s crucial that anyone operating agricultural equipment is aware of the optimum height they can open their equipment to, as well as always taking the time to check where overhead lines are situated before they start work.”
The stickers are available from www.ssepd.co.uk or by calling 0800 483515.
