The Good Neighbour Initiative
The Good Neighbour Initiative was produced by the agricultural industry with help from Georgina Downs to provide guidance for farmers and spray operators on neighbour issues. Two documents were produced:
- a guide for farmers on issues like legal requirement for notification, what to do in the event of a neighbour asking about spraying, actions that could be taken to alleviate problems and what to do in the event of a breakdown in the relationship between the farmer and neighbour. This was originally published in autumn 2007 in BF&G.
- a card for spray operators offering answers to questions which may be asked by neighbours and walkers about spraying for which they may not know the answer. This was included in the training pack used in the NRoSO spray operators training course in 2007-08.
