We’re urging members to complete their annual Crop Protection Management Plan, and stressing that recent events have made this simple task more important than ever.
The government agreed in December that the existing voluntary schemes and measures in the UK will be among the key means used to meet the requirements of the new European Sustainable Use Directive, which covers the on-farm use of pesticides.
That makes it vital that the industry shows it is supporting those voluntary measures.
NFU plant health adviser Paul Chambers said: “Please do not forget to complete a CPMP if you use pesticides on your farm.
“As well as helping to ensure that pesticides are used responsibly, it also helps ensure that voluntary measures will be retained and not replaced by more costly and bureaucratic legislative options.”
The online plan can be found at www.cpmponline.com, while excel and paper versions are available here.
Details of how to return the summary sheets to NFU are on the plans.
