The 27 members of the EU agriculture committee will meet in Brussels this afternoon to discuss the proposed reform of direct payments under the CAP (eg SPS).
The debate begins at 2.30pm our time.
Ministers including the UK's Caroline Spelman will tackle two key areas:
- The proposed structure for direct payments for the period 2014-2020
- The Commission proposal for a more equitable distribution of direct payments - both between member states and within member states.
The Welfare of Laying Hens Directive is also on the agenda.
