Agri scheme facts and figures released

Natural England has published its latest update on agri-environment matters.

Key topics include: 

• The need to boost uptake of UELS.
• The latest fact and figures - the % of UAA currently under some form of agri-environment agreement now stands at 69.5%, which includes over 40,000 ELS and OELS agreements.
• An update on the latest improvements to the streamlining of HLS application processing
• Update on ELS renewals and latest deadlines for getting applications in to minimise payment gaps. For those who have an agreement that ends on 31 July 2010, the 1 June deadline to submit an ELS application and guarantee a 1 August start date has now passed.
• New uplands advice – new leaflets to help potential upland agreement holders decide which options they may wish to select are now available. 
• New report on the contribution of agri schemes to the rural economy.
• General updates on the impact of budget cuts on HLS capital works and the Uplands Transitional Payment.
