Natural England has launched a new series of free one-to-one farm visits to help those in Entry Level Stewardship
Experienced environmental advisers will be making 2,000 visits available during the next three months, with an additional 4,000 places on walks and workshops and further resources planned for 2013.
Those in all of the ELS schemes - including the organic and uplands strands - will be given advice on how to site options within a holding without impacting unnecessarily on farming operations.
Top topics will include weed control, seed mixes, establishment measures and the trimming of mature hedgerows. Guidance will also be given on how to implement changes to existing agreements, including alterations to the options that have been selected.
Importantly, the advisers will also show how key options within ELS, such as pollen and nectar mixtures, directly contribute to the objectives of the Campaign for the Farmed Environment - the industry’s voluntary drive to recapture the benefits of set-aside.
Natural England is keen to stress the visits are not farm inspections.
Bookings can be made now by calling 0300 060 1695 or emailing farmevents@naturalengland.org.uk
