Farmers maintain, protect and enhance a large part of the UK’s landscape.

In this section, you can read about the development of policy in areas including water, soil, planning, waste, NVZs, the Campaign for the Farmed Environment and wildlife and biodiversity.
This is also where you’ll find our work on renewable energy and towards meeting what government chief scientist Professor John Beddington has called ‘the perfect storm’ – the challenge of producing 50% more food by 2030 while adapting to changing climate. Find out why we think this represents an opportunity, rather than a threat, and how agriculture can be part of the solution to this public problem.
