Streamlined application form for broiler producers

30 Mar 2010

forms7859Following a short trial run by the Environment Agency and a number of producers, the Agency has produced a Streamlined Application Form for broiler farmers. This will enable farmers to increase their flock size using a simplified 2 page application form.

Applications for variations to existing permits using this form are expected to be determined by the Agency in a matter of weeks rather than months.

Following work undertaken by ADAS on behalf of the NFU and the British Poultry Council, the annual ammonia emission rate was amended in February 2009 from 0.05 kgNH3/place/year to 0.034 kg NH3/place/year, equivalent to a 32% reduction overall.

This means that provided that broiler farmers can meet a number of criteria, they can apply to increase the number of broiler places up to a certain emission limit their existing permit quickly and easily.

See more in the document attached or log onto the Environment Agency website.
