Defra has now published revised maps of the 2008 NVZ designations for England. Click here to see the revised maps.
Implications for farmers
The designations now cover 62% of the country, a 9% reduction in the area designated in 2008. The reduction results from appeals made by more than 760 farmers, who have put in much hard work to earn this overall success. Their effort means that thousands of farms have been removed from NVZs with immediate effect. Many farmers who did not appeal may have land which has been removed as a result of successful appeals.
