Fairer and Better Environmental Enforcement: Implementation of new sanctions

 The Environment Agency have published a consultation seeking views on implementing new civil sanctions.  These aim to provide the Environment Agency with more flexible and proportionate options that work alongside existing choices to achieve better outcomes for business and the environment.  The consultation focuses on the implementation of these sanctions.

The consultations contains questions on the Environment Agency enforcement and sanctions policy and guidance; variable monetary penalties methodology, Enforcement Undertaking sanctions; their proposed Governance Structure and Monitoring and Reporting.

Please send any comments to Lee Osborne.  The consultation deadline for responses to the NFU is 30th April 2010.  The consultation is available on the Environment Agency website.
