Young farmers are being urged to play their part in supporting the Campaign for the Farmed Environment by registering for a competition at this year’s LAMMA event.
Teams of Young Farmers' Club members are tasked with developing a suitable proposal for a farm business of their choice that is currently outside of any agri-environment schemes, explaining how their proposals would work to support the campaign. The competition hopes to increase the knowledge of environmental management by the younger rural generation and was launched in December by the agriculture and food minister Jim Paice.
James Williams, NFYFC Chairman, said: ‘We’ve had a really good relationship with the campaign so far and this competition is an excellent way of strengthening that while giving members the opportunity to compete – something young farmers always love to do!
“There are some fantastic prizes on offer and I really hope members enter, as it’s a brilliant opportunity to prove their credentials as forward thinking future farmers.
“Any young farmers visiting the show should take advantage of the CFE stand to find out more about the competition and enter there and then.”
The CFE stand is number 803 in Hall 8. Advisors will be on hand to offer more information.
