The Localism Bill received royal assent on the 16th November 2011 and is now an Act of Parliament. It is one of the key pieces of legislation of the Coalition Government. It covers a wide range of issues such as local authority governance, the abolition of Regional Strategies and the introduction of a Neighbourhood level of planning.
