Last autumn the Secretary of State Hilary Benn launched a review of England’s wildlife sites and ecological network.

The review, chaired by Professor Sir John Lawton, is concerned with how well the English network of protected sites (and non designated areas) will be able to cope with future pressures such as adapting to climate change. The review will also look to see what benefits could be gained by connecting sites within designated areas and outside them through re-wilding initiatives and is due to report in June 2010.
