Heston Blumenthal To Launch Food Range At Waitrose
12 Jul 2010
Heston Blumenthal, the celebrity chef, has developed a range of 20 different products, which will go on sale at Waitrose later this year, with a larger selection of goods in time for Christmas. Though his famous snail porridge and bacon and egg ice cream do not make an appearance, chilled ready meals, store-cupboard ingredients, bakery goods and puddings will all feature in the range.
A report by The Telegraph said that the products include Scottish salmon smoked with Lapsong Souchong tea; Ponzu dressing, which is a citrus-based Japanese dressing made with rice vinegar, mirin and konbu, a type of seaweed; and coriander and rose salt. The cheapest item will cost £3 with others likely to cost in excess of £10, with Waitrose saying the Blumenthal range will be the most expensive line of packaged food they sell.
The deal with Waitrose follows the decision by Blumenthal to star alongside Delia Smith in a series of adverts for the supermarket chain. Rupert Thomas, Marketing Director for Waitrose said, “This brand is a natural progression of our relationship and we know that our customers will love to cook with Heston’s range”.
