Worthington’s Ale were welcome visitors to the NFU stand at Cereals 2011 this lunchtime to announce their Red Tractor certification.
All Worthington’s ales will now use 100% British barley sourced from Red Tractor suppliers.
Sourcing manager Jerry Dyson said: “This is a really important step for us and we’re proud to be able to tell our customers that our barley has met the high quality standards set by the scheme.
“We are passionate about offering beers of the highest quality, and certification to Red Tractor demonstrates not only that we meet nationally recognised levels of best agricultural practice, but that these standards are met throughout the entire production process.”
NFU Deputy President Meurig Raymond said the move demonstrated the “growing importance" that big brands are placing on assurance standards.
Worthington’s move follows a similar announcement from the brand’s Molson Coors stablemate, Carling, last year.
