Briefing – Variation / Revocation of Abstraction Licences

04 Aug 2011

This briefing aims to give members an outline of the statutory procedure under the Water Resources Act 1991 for the revocation and variation of abstraction licences. It outlines the importance of following the statutory procedure, particularly in relation to the compulsory variation or revocation of licences by the Environment Agency under section 52 of the Water Resources Act.  In addition, the briefing also covers the basis for the payment of compensation for the compulsory variation and revocation of abstraction licences.
