North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has published a new fire safety leaflet after statistics revealed that in the UK approximately 1700 farm buildings, many with livestock inside, and thousands of acres of land and crops are destroyed by fire.
The leaflet outlines the key danger areas on farms and looks at simple precautions that can be taken to minimise the risk. It also advises on simple measures to reduce the risk of an arson attack, given that 50 per cent of farm fires are started deliberately.
Finally, the leaflet looks at additional and/or different risks arising out of farm diversification projects such as farm shops, mazes, stabling and so on.
