Farmers help folk tuck in to breakfast

06 Jan 2012

Farmers will be encouraging people to tuck into a hearty breakfast during Farmhouse Breakfast Week (January 22/28, 2012).

NFU members will be inviting folk to shake up their wake up and sample locally produced breakfast fare. They will be highlighting the importance of breakfast to a healthy lifestyle and even breakfast skippers may not be able to resist some of the scrumptious food on offer at events across the South East.

To mark the week, East Sussex NFU members Gill and Bryan Hesselgrave will be hosting charity breakfasts at their home, Stone House Farm, Hellingly, BN27 4HD on January 17 and January 18 (Tuesday and Wednesday), between 9.15am and 1.30pm. The breakfasts feature local produce including bacon, sausages, preserves and apple juice. People are asked to make a £7 donation and advance booking is essential as these events are often oversubscribed– tel: 01323 844613.

Commuters at Frant station, Bells Yew Green, East Sussex will be able to grab an early bird breakfast bap cooked on the platform by NFU members from 6.30am/8.30am on January 25 (Wednesday). Breakfast will feature produce from Renhurst Farm Shop, Mark Cross, near Crowborough.

On the Isle of Wight, people using West Wight Sports Centre at Freshwater on January 28 (Saturday) will enjoy free sporting activities. They will also be able to claim a breakfast voucher for a free Island farmhouse breakfast bap, between 8.30am until 11.30am. This event is supported by the NFU and the NHS.
