NFU members across the country encouraged people to tuck into a hearty morning meal during Farmhouse Breakfast Week (January 22/28), with locally-produced fare very much to the fore.
Farmers highlighted the important role breakfast plays in a healthy lifestyle and will have helped scores of confirmed ‘breakfast skippers’ mend their ways.
That was certainly the case on the Isle of Wight, where people using the West Wight Sports Centre got a doubly good deal on Saturday – free sporting activities and free Island farmhouse breakfast bap.
Local food producers showcased speciality produce and there were displays from the NFU and a local poultry club. This event was supported by the NFU and the NHS.
