Members of the South West regional board recently enjoyed a trip to Brussels to find out more about the NFU's lobbying operation and put some of their concerns to leading Eurocrats.
They were accompanied by South West regional director Melanie Squires, senior food and farming adviser Andrew Butler and environment adviser Paul Cottington.
Highlights included an opportunity to talk to Brigitte Missone, policy officer and market analyst for milk and milk products, about the poor deal UK dairy farmers get on milk prices and Jeroen Caser, head of the nitrates sector at the European Commission, about NVZs.
South West MEPs Ashley Fox and Julie Girling met with the group, who were also given a presentation by Katy Lee, assistant director of BAB.
A full report on the trip will appear in the December edition of British Farmer and Grower.
