The graphs below show deadweight prices for organic lamb and beef from January 2009 to December 2011. This graphs are supplied by Graig Producers and represents a circa of 25% of organic beef and lamb animals supplied into the top retails. Graig have report that demand for organic beef and lamb has been good and they are beginning to see increases in organic lamb sales.
The graph below shows that deadweight beef prices have been steadily increasing since the middle of April 2011 and the price has remained stable at just over 350p/kg. This is around 50p/kg higher than prices seen in 2009 and 2010. Demand for organic beef has been high, but it is felt this is likely to have come off the back of supermarket promotions.
The graph for organic lamb below, illistrates that the price has decreased in the months leading up to october, primarily due to the seasonality of lamb, however during the lead up to Christmas prices increased to around £4.50p/kg at the end of December. Whilst the prices for 2011 were higher than those seen in 2009 and 2010, prices fluctuated far more through out the year.
These graphs will be updated on a quarterly basis. A range of additional pricing information is available to members of Graig Producers, to view their website please click here.
