The board is there to represent the views of the region’s dairy farmers and highlight issues which are of concern to producers in Cumbria, Lancashire and Cheshire while feeding into the development of NFU dairy policy. Given the recent upturn in the milk price, the move towards greater collaboration in the sector and the uncertainty caused by the decision to leave the EU, this is likely to be an interesting time for the dairy sector. The board meets six times per year, either through board meetings or on conference calls and board members will be expected to help organise dairy events and meetings in the county.
