Group secretary Steven Brettle said: “Historically Broughton was the most southerly office of Cumbria and Ulverston the most northern of Lancashire so with modern technology, the combustion engine and just simply being good neighbours we have come together to form South West Lakes NFU.
“We will be retaining the two offices and in essence will still be operating as usual with members dealing with the same group secretaries and offices. We will be running events together in both areas to try to encourage more member engagement at our events and really hope that you will also see the benefits of the merge in the coming years.”
