Cardell takes on NFU tenant spokesman role

NFU Tenants Group national spokesman Chris Cardell

Mr Cardell, a farmer from Cornwall, succeeds David King, who has been the spokesperson for the last four years. Stuart Royle from Cheshire was elected as deputy.

“Firstly I would like to thank David King for his hard work and efforts in moving the representation of the tenanted sector forward,” said Mr Cardell.

“I am very proud to be taking on this exciting challenge and hope that I can build on David’s work.

“I appreciate that there are many challenges in the marketplace, however I am looking forward to tackling these. I am very pleased that I approach this role with Stuart Royle as my deputy, and with Minette Batters as the officeholder who has taken on tenancy matters.

“With their support and the help of the other group members, I believe we can raise the profile of the superb services we have available to all NFU members, on land and rental issues.

“Part of the role will be to work with fellow stake holders to provide a viable sector for both existing tenants and landlords, but also looking at alternative agreements.

“These agreements are beginning to play their role in our industry's future for both existing farmers, land owners and especially our young entrants.”
