Defra has recently published two access newsletters highlighting recent developments relating to the implementation of coastal access.

Coastal Access in Norfolk

Natural England have submitted a report to the Secretary of State setting out their proposals for improving public access to the Norfolk coast between Sea Palling and Weybourne. Formal representations and objections about the report can now be made and must be received by Natural England no later than midnight on Monday 16 September 2013. The report and it's proposals can be found on Natural England's website.

Coastal Access in Cumbria and Durham

The Secretary of State has approved Natural England’s coastal access proposals for two stretches of the English coast between Allonby and Whitehaven in Cumbria and between North Gare and South Bents in Durham, Hartlepool and Sunderland.

Coastal Access and the Isle of Wight

The Government has decided that it will not make an order under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 for the Isle of Wight as it is not a priority for the coastal access programme. It considers that the Isle of Wight Ramblers should work with local landowners and the local authority to see what can be achieved by voluntary agreements.
