In a strategy to remain competitive in an ever changing market, Sainsburys have removed the vast majority of their multi-buy promotions in favour of lower every day prices. Many large retailers are moving to this pricing strategy in a bid to stay competitive amongst ever growing discounters.

Sainsburys have recently launched a new ‘on the go’ range of sandwiches, drinks, snacks etc. to increase variety for consumer purchase.

Sainsburys like-for-like sales (excl. fuel) are down 1.1%, however like-for-like transaction and total volume have shown growth over this quarter. 7 store closures have been reported over the half year period, 6 of these convenience stores and 1 supermarket. Alongside these closures, 16 new convenience stores have been opened and 1 new supermarket.
