The role of the NFU Potato Forum: The NFU Potato Forum works alongside the national board for Horticulture and Potatoes and has a critical role in shaping NFU policies that impact on potato growers.  Whether it is crop protection or labour needs, or tackling a lack of transparency on potato contracts, the NFU Potato Forum helps identify the issues affecting members and creates a plan of action to address them.  The Forum also has the opportunity to input into national policy through the board for Horticulture and Potatoes, with both the chairman and vice chairman of the Forum currently sitting on the national board.

The group meets every six months and has regular email/ phone contact throughout the year; addressing key policy priority areas and reacting to sector issues rapidly. 2017 meetings take place on 11th May and 7th November.

If you want to know more about the role, please contact NFU Horticulture and potatoes Adviser, Lee Abbey, on 024 7685 8632 or email bGVlLmFiYmV5QG5mdS5vcmcudWs=
