Organic Early Bird's Session at Conference - "Growth in the face of Brexit"

Conference 2017 Update Header_40968

What could these be and how can we ensure the organic market thrives?

The audience will hear from Steward Batchelor, a Market Intelligence Analyst from AHDB speak about what drives an organic purchase and tap into some future key growth food trends.  Steward will put a specific focus on beef, lamb and fresh produce.  If we know where there is growth in the market, can the industry use this insight to develop domestic production to satisfy the expected demand?

Nicholas Saphir, OMSCo Executive Chairman will enlighten us on the potential for exporting UK produced organic products, through his experience of opening up US markets and successfully exporting OMSCo “Kingdom Cheddar”;  the only European organic cheese available in the US market which is made right here in the UK.  With Brexit on the horizon there will be challenges ahead, but what are Nicholas’s thoughts and how can we ensure the UK organic market’s export channels remain viable and profitable?

Two organic forum members will then hone into UK domestic markets.  Haydn will look specifically at the organic dairy industry and John Pawsey at UK organic arable production.  Does Government do enough to support growth and maintenance of production in the organic industry?  What are the treats of imports?  What do we need to do to secure the organic future?

This session will be interactive with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, challenge points and debate next steps for the NFU.

You can submit a question in advance, just click here or there will be an open question and answer session at the end of the day to ask questions freely.

We look forward to welcoming you to NFU Conference 2017
