Sugar
NFU Sugar is the sole representative of UK sugar beet growers and acts on behalf of all growers, regardless of NFU membership.
As such it negotiates on behalf of all UK sugar beet growers with the monopoly processor, British Sugar; with DEFRA, the government department responsible for food and rural affairs; within Europe, through the European beet growers association, CIBE; and in other areas necessary to represent the interests of UK beet growers.
NFU Sugar are also involved in beet reception and have dedicated staff present at British Sugar factories throughout the campaign. The staff continuously monitor the weighing, sampling and analysis of beet to ensure beet is purchased in accordance with procedures jointly agreed in the Inter-professional agreement, and that growers are paid accurately and treated fairly.
The NFU Sugar web site offers up to date information on issues that affect UK sugar beet growers, from European reforms of the industry to campaign data and all related issues that will interest the beet grower.
