Open Farm Sunday
Farms are once again opening their gates to the public on the same day.
Following the success of Open Farm Sunday 2007, farmers across the country are once again being encouraged to open their farm gates to the public for Open Farm Sunday 2008, taking place on Sunday 1 June 2008.
The campaign, now in its third year, organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), provides an excellent opportunity for children and adults to learn more about where their food comes from and the environment in which they live.
Roly Puzey, Farms Liaison Manager LEAF, said that the success of the 2007 campaign had been overwhelming. Over 400 farmers across the country opened their gates to some 150 000 people onto their farms to tell them what they do and why farms matter.
As in 2007, LEAF is planning a number of Open Farm Sunday host workshops across the country to train and support host farmers and it is developing a range of materials to brand farmer events, including roadside boards, posters and t-shirts.
