Membership benefits
NFU Farmer & Grower membership is open to all people who work in the agricultural or horticultural industries, full time or part time, business or leisure, tenants or land owners.At present there are over 62 000 farmers & growers, throughout Wales & England, who benefit from NFU membership. Association to the NFU has two types of advantages; firstly it provides all members with a voice ensuring that their needs are represented in Westminster, Cardiff & Brussels; and secondly all members have free, unlimited access to agricultural and legal experts to assist them with all their business issues.
Over the last year the NFU has had many successes such as playing a major role in getting the Blair Government to sign up to the Renewable Energy Transport Obligation; overseeing £5 billion of produce into the well-known red tractor food assurance scheme; and ensuring confidence in the poultry market was maintained during the recent Avian Influenza scare.

Legal Assistance Scheme
The NFU has full time Agri specialist solicitors who work on your behalf, so if you are unsure of your legal rights or need immediate advice the NFU Legal Assistance Scheme (LAS) will be able to reassure you of your position within the law.
More than 90% of NFU members subscribe to LAS and on one single occasion LAS saved a member over £10,000 in a seasonal labour council tax dispute.

NFU Business Guides
Members have FREE access to over 150 Business Guides to lead you through the rules and regulations affecting agriculture, horticulture and rural affairs. Members receive a free consultation and if our experts do not provide you with a solution, we will ensure your case is referred to a specialized planning firm in your region which is selected a s a result of their experience in rural planning and therefore provides you with the best possible assistance.
NFU Publications
NFU Farmer and Grower members will receive a copy of British Farmer and Grower every month, you can also receive Horticulture news every quarter and as an NFU member you have the opportunity to receive a FREE subscription to leading industry magazines; Poultry Forum, Farming Outlook, Farming Wales, Journal. Members also have access to the comprehensive resources of the member's area on NFU Online and you will receive regular e-updates to keep you abreast of the latest industry issues.
NFU Risk Management
Working with the NFU Mutual Risk Management Service can help guide you through the complicated process and procedures of health and safety. Qualified consultants will provide you with advice to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and there is also an ongoing consultancy service to help you implement Health and Safety improvements. Members will receive: practical assistance and guidance, an audit of your current health and safety arrangements, an easy to understand report suggesting any improvements, an advice manual and access to a free-phone help line.
