Ten on the trot for NFU at Chelsea

The NFU stand has won its tenth consecutive Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show 2006.

The idyllic garden, made up of scenes from the English countryside floating on islands down a trickling stream, wowed the judges and won designer, Penny Riley, her tenth gong in a row. As usual the stand is stocked full of fruit and vegetables, cut flowers, herbs and plants all supplied by NFU members.

The stand, sponsored by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) for the second year running, tells the story of food production and how it crosses over into traditional scenes from English life.

EBLEX's sponsorship unites the livestock and horticulture sectors telling a positive story about home-grown food. The scenes on the stand include a topiary cow and sheep in an English meadow, an urban barbeque scene and a country picnic.
