IPPC Model Templates

17 August 2006 - Industry has been working very closely with the Environment Agency and Defra on the development of Model templates for IPPC applicants.

This is so that producers:

  • don't have to start from scratch on their application; and
  • are given an indication of the level of information and detail to be submitted to the Environment Agency in their application.

The first template for the pig sector has been completed and is now available on the BPEX website.

In addition, a model application for broiler and layer installations are now available. See related documents at the bottom of this page.

Potential IPPC applicants are being encouraged to attend one of the IPPC workshops being held to help guide producers through the IPPC application process. The NFU together with the Environment Agency are co-hosting a number of regional workshops around the country taking poultry and pig producers through the whole application process.

The workshops cover the detail of the application process, how to comply with the IPPC requirements and the template applications available.

Phil Crawley, a poultry producer from Leicestershire, attending one of the workshops near Peterborough stated 'I have learnt a lot. This has been a very informative workshop. The whole application process now seems far less daunting than before.'

Details of the workshops are available on NFUonline at http://www.nfuonline.com/x9111.xml and http://www.nfuonline.com/x9821.xml

Further information on the Environment Agency IPPC application package which contains the application form, the compliance 'Rules' and various guidance documents guidance, including that on the Interpretation of 'Installation', is available from the Environment Agency website www.environment-agency.gov.uk
