East Anglia online water trading platform expanded

15 March 2021

The East Anglian pilot online platform designed to help abstractors trade water has been expanded. It is now available to abstractors in the Cam & Ely Ouse, Broadland, East Suffolk and Essex catchments.

Wheatley Watersource is a project developed in collaboration with Anglian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water, supported by Water Resources East and the Environment Agency. The NFU has provided agricultural input into the development of the project.

The pilot seeks to facilitate and co-ordinate trades between different parties including farmers and other abstractors such as golf courses and water companies.

The water trading pilot will run throughout 2021.

Abstractors can find out more on the Wheatley Watersource website.
