The organisers of the Leicestershire County Show have announced the entertainment and activities planned for the upcoming annual family event, adding some new attractions to the familiar favourites.

Held beside the Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough, the Leicestershire County Show is returning as a two day event on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August, the late summer bank holiday weekend. Close to 13,000 visitors attended last year and due to the popularity, the activities and attractions planned have been expanded for 2018.

Proceedings will start in style on the evening of Friday 24th August with the County Show Dinner – an evening of food, fun and entertainment in the Members’ Marquee. The show will begin the following morning with a range of new activities including an unmissable parachute display by the RAF Falcons to mark the centenary year of the Royal Air Force.

The 2018 event with also welcome The Mounted Games Association of Great Britain, an exciting equestrian sport that includes relays and obstacle runs on ponies. 28 teams will battle it out over the two days with one team crowned 2018 show champions.

“The county show is now cemented as one of the most fun activities for Leicestershire families over the bank holiday weekend. As such, we want to make sure that there is something for everyone,” explains David Young, Leicestershire County Show Director. “We believe that our new additions complement our established activities well and we are doing everything to make this a bigger and better event than ever before.”

The new activities will be accompanied by some of the most popular attractions from previous years such as the classic car and tractor parade that showcases a rare catalogue of vehicles, Leicester Tigers’ golden boot competition, Fernie Hunt Pony Club display and the Grand Parade to close the show.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be a traditional funfair including dodgems and a Ferris wheel, livestock and equine classes and over 100 craft and trade stands.

The show is expected to be very popular and to save time and money, tickets can be purchased online prior to the event at www.leicestershirecountyshow.co.uk. Tickets cost £8 online or £10 on the gate. Children under 14 are free and car parking at the show ground is also free.
