Meanwhile, Brexit negotiations in Brussels continued with Brexit Secretary David Davis and Michel Barnier meeting to discuss the terms of the UK’s ‘divorce settlement’.

Looking to September, MPs are back in Westminster as recess comes to an end.  Next week’s parliamentary business includes:

  • Members of Parliament will have the first chance to get into debate on the EU Withdrawal bill (formerly known as the Great Repeal Bill) when it is put before Parliament on Thursday.  Debate will the continue the following week.  An NFU briefing will be sent to all Members of Parliament on Tuesday ahead of the debate.
  • On Wednesday, the Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns will answer Welsh questions before the first Prime Minister’s Question Time of the new term.  On Thursday morning, Brexit Secretary David Davis will answer Exiting the EU Questions.
  • The All Party Parliamentary Group on Dairy will meet on Tuesday at 11:30.

13 days to go until Back British Farming Day and the NFU is working hard to secure widespread support in Westminster. Over the next few days, all NFU twitter channels will be publicising the day and urging Members of Parliament to get involved.  You can help by retweeting content from @NFUPolitical or by tweeting your MP and asking them to come along on Wednesday 13th September.
