Alnwick group secretary and NFU Mutual agent, Tania Conway - pictured here centre with partners Jane Potts and Miriam McGregor - is celebrating after clocking up an impressive 25 years working with members in the area.
Starting as an assistant group secretary in 1993, initially working alongside Ken Johnson and current Hexham group secretary Cath Reed, Tania has seen a lot of change over the years.
“We’ve moved office three times, but hopefully are in our new accommodation on the Cawledge Business Park for good,” she said. “We’ve also expanded considerably as a business going from just one full-time and one part-time member of staff 25 years ago to eight people today not including the partners.”
The job too has changed a lot, she says, with so much more emphasis on computerised systems and electronic communications. It means there is perhaps less opportunity to see the group’s 170 NFU members in person, but she says the team works hard to provide a range of business-focused and social events to bring people together.
Today Tania works alongside group secretary and agent Jane Potts and agent Miriam McGregor - the trio have their sights firmly set on growing the business further.“We have a great area here and I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had over the years from members,” said Tania. “We have lots of activity planned this year and aim to continue providing the best possible service for our local farming community.”
