NFU members across South and West Yorkshire are welcoming a new county adviser for the New Year. He is Chris Dickinson, who has joined the North East team from the NFU’s Warwickshire headquarters.
Now he will be the first point of contact for more than 1,200 farmers over a large area stretching from Skipton in the West to Goole in the East and taking in the whole of South and West Yorkshire.
Hailing from a farming background - his parents are mixed farmers from Penrith where they have beef, sheep, arable and poultry enterprises - Chris graduated from Newcastle University in 2009 with a degree in Agri-business Management.
Before joining the NFU he worked in the North East for Blue Barns Poultry Farms as a fieldsman offering ground support to farms throughout Yorkshire and Northumberland.
In his new role Chris will be working closely with members across all sectors and focusing on key issues affecting the county including rural crime and flooding. He will also provide specialist assistance on poultry, sugar and root crop issues, working with the NFU’s regional commodity boards.
“It is a real pleasure to be working in such a diverse area and although the region faces many challenges ahead, I think the outlook is very positive,” he said. “I am really keen to get out and about and look forward to meeting as many local members as possible in the coming weeks.”
