Having a farm walk at 7.30pm on a night where the light closes in around 6pm was an interesting concept, but NFU Lancashire County Chairman Olly Harrison and his family managed to organise a fantastic event for members of the NFU Knutsford branch in March.
NFU Knutsford group secretary Liz Lawrence said: “Olly took photos of his crops to show on a screen in their smart offices that once were a redundant range of brick buildings. He detailed what his farming crops were and how they were getting along in the poor weather. We then went outside into the buildings and viewed some of his big arable machinery and his biomass enterprise, which we all found interesting and amazed at the scale of it.
“Olly and his family are a progressive thinking family and all the members who attended had plenty of food for thought. I felt one of the most interesting facts was that he was prepared to trial ideas without putting too much money in initially, and if it worked, he rolled that into his farm plan. Thank you to Olly and his family.”
