FAREWELL JAMES

NFU members and staff have been saying a fond farewell to Chichester NFU group secretary James Wiseman on his retirement from the NFU/NFU Mutual at the end of June after 36 years. James started as an assistant county secretary in Hampshire in 1984, becoming an assistant group secretary at Winchester in 1986. He then went on to Chichester to take up the group secretary role there in 1993. James confessed that his association with the NFU is even longer than his career: “My mother worked for the NFU office in Cowbridge in Wales, so when I was in school, I used to have to go into the NFU office and wait for her to finish to get a lift home, or during school holidays.  They used to get me to do filing and so on for them, from about the age of 11 – so it’s more like 48 years!”
