As a harvest season affected by coronavirus and the weather comes to a close, the Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Annie Maw, has written to farmers expressing her gratitude for “what you do to keep our countryside both fruitful and, also, so uniquely beautiful. In so doing, between you all, you provide us with food for our bodies and, also, for our souls.”
Mrs Maw also thanks farmers for the “husbandry and vision with which you nurture the countryside” and says she is also writing on behalf of the Queen and the Royal Family, who she represents in the county.
