The system will allow officers to have up-to-date contact details for all farms and stables and allow information to go out quickly to officers on the ground and landowners.

Police will use the system to record vital information and notify farmers and landowners of incidents, including livestock on the road or suspicious activity.

Details will be held on a secure police system with authorised access.

A police spokesman said: "If you have land away from the farm or your property please also include these details so your contact information can be put on the location.

George Bostock, NFU Warwickshire county adviser, welcomed the initiative and said he and members tried to meet regularly with the police to discuss pressing issues.

“We try to work together so farms are not seen as soft targets for criminals,” he said.

“Prompt, effective action is needed to deal with the serious issue of rural crime and I am pleased to see officers making continued commitments in this area.

“We want to send out a strong, united message from the police and farming community that rural crime will not be tolerated.”
