About the role

This is a unique entry level role where you will be responsible for calling farmer and grower members and asking them to take part in a variety of telephone research questionnaires. You will be listening to the voice of our membership to understand their views and experiences on a wide range of topics that affect how your food is grown and gets to your plate.  You will accurately input all information into our survey system or on an internal database and full training will be provided.  Maintaining a professional and courteous manner at all times, you will need to probe for answers to ensure clarity and to obtain /record the information accurately whilst not influencing member thoughts and responses.

In between telephone research projects you will be playing a key role in accurately updating our records to ensure our farmer and grower members are kept informed of how the NFU support them and their businesses.   Previous experience of telephone research or the farming industry is not required. Working hours will be between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.  We are also piloting an exciting new ‘hybrid working’ scheme that allows a mix of home and office-based working. 


About you

We are looking for excellent communicators and individuals who are able to listen carefully, build rapport quickly and easily over the phone whilst demonstrating both patience and empathy. You will communicate clearly over the phone whilst at the same time using your excellent spelling and grammar skills to accurately type member responses at speed.  Previous experience of working in an office environment using Microsoft Office packages would be advantageous however, excellent customer service experience is essential.

This is an ideal opportunity to receive training in the art of research interviewing skills, database systems, and aspects of the farming industry. Training and support will be given throughout each project, and you will be actively encouraged to ask questions.

We are seeking a confident, motivated self-starter who thrives on working under pressure towards team targets. The role will require you to follow carefully worded scripts and instructions. You must have your own transport to travel to our office in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
