Award-winning designer Penny Riley has been hard at work to create an iconic stand that will proudly display the produce grown in this country at the world-famous show in May.

The Celebrating British stand will once again be made up entirely of produce, plants and flowers available to buy in shops and markets during the show, but Mrs Riley said this year’s stand would give visitors the chance to get more up-close to the design than ever before.

“Although our stand always highlights what wonderful produce can be grown in this country, this year we have gone back to the drawing board and really hope to show off something different that will grab people’s attention.

“Our design will be quintessentially British-themed which we hope will complement the ongoing celebrations of the show’s centenary year and appeal to those shoppers who are increasingly demanding tasty, fresh and home grown food and world-class ornamentals.”

Sue Steptoe, Waitrose buying manager for horticulture, said: “We are delighted to be working with the NFU again this year for the display at Chelsea Flower Show, as well as Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

“Waitrose believes in always bringing its customers the best British food and produce and celebrating British seasonal food at its very best.

“The display is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and we are proud to be showcasing British produce on such a famous world-stage.”
