24 March deadline for issue-free access to Rural Payments Online Service

Making a secure payment online

Important Notice to Members accessing the Rural Payment Agency’s (RPA) Rural Payments Online Service when using GOV.UK Verify with

  • Barclays
  • Experian or
  • SecureIdentity

Deadline approaching

The providers listed above will no longer be providing Identity Check Services to GOV.UK Verify after 23 March 2021.

Customers who verified their identity through these providers will be able to sign in to government services, including Rural Payments using GOV.UK Verify up to the end of 23 March 2021 only.

Visit Gov.uk Verify for more information on how to create a new identity account with the alternative providers, Digidentity or the Post Office before 24 March 2021.

Barclays, Experian and SecureIdentity have been sending out emails to customers affected advising them what they need to do. Customers should follow the instructions provided in the emails, and on GOV.UK, to change their identity providers. You will, once again, need your passport, driving licences and credit cards for this new registration.

Verify app

There is an option to use the free Post Office GOV.UK Verify app – it can be downloaded on the Google Play and Apple App Store – it makes the process easier but is not mandatory.

Defra helpline

If customers have difficulties verifying their identity they should call the RPA helpline on Defra Rural Services Helpline 03000 200301.

The helpline can help break the identity link for Verify and register them for RPA ID check. It should be noted though that this option will provide them with access to Rural Payments only. Wider access to other government services must be secured through registration through the alternative providers.
