Watch out for new requirements when accessing Government Gateway Services

connectivity

Changes are coming in from 1 April 2020 in order to keep user data secure and to update Government technology, this means that Government Gateway will soon be upgraded.

Some older computer operating systems and internet browsers will not work with the new Government security measures in the upgrade being introduced.

What this means is from 1 April 2020, you will no longer be able to access your Government Gateway account on Windows XP and Windows Vista or Internet Explorer 6 and 7. Other older operating systems and browsers may also be affected.

You can still sign in to services through Government Gateway using more modern operating systems and browsers.

Services affected are:

• Defra SignOn & SignOn Admin

• CARA IAM

• AMLS2

• eDomero

• ESP Seedcert

• eHMI/PEACH

• WIISOL

• GLA LAWS

• Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI)

• SPIRE (access to both Portal and WMS elements)

• CTS Online

• Sheep and Goat ETAS

• Merman NMMD

• SAM/iSAM

• ALVS

• SPIRIT WAG

The impact of this change does not affect users of the RPA’s Rural Payments Service for 2020 claims for BPS or Countryside Stewardship as the Rural Payments Service is accessed entirely through GOV.UK Verify or the RPA Identity Check approach and not Government Gateway.

What you should do?

The Government is asking that if you intend to continue to access the Government Gateway services that you check your computers Operating System and Internet Explorer version now.

For more information on this please refer to this Gov.uk article.
